That Noble M400 from Fighting Torque looks seriously fast. What's the chance the factory GTR720 can beat it on a drag race? Would it be a big difference in time/terminal speed?

You mean the 500bhp+ noble that LuckyP raced. I dont think that should be a problem as Luckyp came within half a second of its time. The factory car has 220bhp more so shouldnt be a problem.

times were 23.49 against 23.80 over 3/4 mile course, but I believe Peters Ultima pushed out 497 bhp at the fly, so yes the 720 should have little trouble.

Any ultima with the recommended std G50 gearing and over 600 bhp would dispence with Adrians car.

My box was geared to a Vmax event with the 4th and 5th geared to 228mph. As soon as I flung it into 4th, I dropped outta the band and was reeled in by the the porkers.

Frustrating but true.

I suspect the 720 is capable of 22.5 and 180 in the same discipline.

Let's not make the same mistake next year.

We should attend in droves!!

Looks like I'll be bringing up the rear with my lowly 497bhp!

Me too. I've not done the track work I wanted to this year but next year should be different.

I think the GTR would be faster...

I was going through withdraw this weekend and had to go to the track yesterday. There was an M400 with uprated turbos making 525 HP and I had the opportunity to take it out as an instructor.

I had my heavy boots on...not driving shoes. So, my feet didn't fit very well in the small peddle box. The left foot (an LHD car) was too wide and had to be angled so as not to depress the brake peddle.

Upon exiting the hot-pit area, I almost lost it! The instant RPM in first gear jumped from 3k RPM to 7k in a second with about 25% throttle. The rear kicked right and I thought we were going to spin!

Tires were Kumho ECSTA MX, which is a street tire. They performed well considering their grip was easily overpowerd through third gear by the TT Ford Duratec engine. They didn't overheat, even with all of the hard cornering, braking, and acceleration.

It took a few laps to understand the turbo lag and drastic surge. On lap 2, we slid sideways for what seemed like a couple of seconds...150-200 feet around one long left corner. Luckily recovered with throttle modulation and without a snap back the other way, which would have sent us into the weeds.

Once getting the throttle dynamics somewhat under control on lap 3, I could concentrate on managing the contact patches for better lap times. Completed 5 laps, then turned the car over to the student.

Of the cars I have driven, including an F430, I would have to rate it the most fun road car I have driven on the track. Of course, I haven't had the pleasure of driving an Ultima at the track yet. It was the most fun because of the wild and somewhat hard-to-manage thrust.

The '06 Corvette Z06 with slics delivered a little quicker lap times and was perfectly predictable. With a bit more practice, I think the TT M400 could be quicker. But, it was a hand-full to manage. Only if the driver knows the track well can he afford to allocate the required greater percentage of his concentration towards managing the TT M400's throttle.

After driving the GTR on the street many times now, I believe it would be much easier to drive it closer to the edge (on the road course) due to predictablity. In a pure drag race, again, due to throttle management and traction, I think the GTR would be quicker.
