Yeah rough round here!
She really is beautiful, the only one i've really fallen for since mine. Apparently serviced by the factory then since by Heath from the factory who is a good chap.
47,000 miles is a worry, don't want to rebuild it just yet!
Mine was S988 YAN so in a silly imaginary world I am imagining them being bult pretty much together too.

I don't think the rebuilds are necessary mileage based Baz.
I think there are other factors, lots of cold starts, how it was looked after from young
etc.
I've got two cars with similar mileages.
One hasn't used a drop of oil in 2000 miles, and one was using up to a litre every 400 miles
I don't know if it's a clue or not, but the oil burner's oil was always Black, where as the other car stays oil coloured

Thanks for that, I suppose theres no real way of telling before I buy her is there? I told the Mrs it wouldn't cost a lot to run last time, and she believed me. I won't get away with it again!

I could swear I could see a puff off grey smoke coming out of the Blue one under hard acceleration.
Depends if he'll let you give it some revs
, and if so take someone along to see if it's blowing. That said, a top end is £3.5K. On a 98 Cerb, I'd be concentrating on the chassis.
They've come to the age now, where you can have a bad year & spend £12k.
Just make sure you're buying to keep for a few years.
