Tyre speed ratings

Ok, so I know there have been a lot of topics on tires for a Gallardo, but i think i have one question that has not been answered yet!
I can find pirelli p zero rossos on certain tyre websites, but they are a different "speed rating".
They are 295/30YR19 instead of 295/30ZR19. Does anybody know how significant this is? Is this the smae with the Michelin Pilots? Is there a "Y" and a "Z" tyre? Whats the difference?

Generally 'Z'is the one to go for, 'Y' rated to 185mph.
