Although I am a lover of toast...I am not sure I wan't to singe my rear clip!

Apart from adding a heat barrier stuck on the clip above the mufflers, there seems to be a prevalence of owners ceramic coating their tubes!

Yes, they do look nice, with all sorts of finishes and I can see the attraction, however I have had a quick shufty and in the UK I have found two suppliers of such coatings...

1. CamCoat - which I understand is a paint-type coating
2. Zircotec - which is a plasma applied coating

CamCoat are by far the cheapest at around £250 - £300 whilst zircotec would charge around £750-£1k....a HUGE difference!

I wonder how resilient the coating is to cracking etc in each case, and I also wonder about the REAL advantage, since zircotec appear to claim 30 degree reduction, don't know about CamCoat....which dos'nt seem much given the temrature our exhausts get...sometime red-hot!furious

I know it doesn't look as good, but doesn't wrapping with bandage provide for a better heat reduction?

Any comments Gentlemen?

I had the CamCoat done about 4 years ago along with a few other owners including my brother on his CanAm. CamCoat use an internal black coating and a coloured outer coating (Silver in our case). At the time I was having problems with overheating and I believe it definitely helped although I couldn't give you any figures. Since then the car has done about 14,000 miles including time on track. The Exhaust has been on and off 4 or 5 times during that period. The coating has flaked at the edges in a few places but is generally intact and still looks well although they have never been cleaned since fitting. Neither my brother nor I had problems of Toasting any bits. I would recommend it but can't give a comparison to other solutions.

I also have the same coating 3.5 years 13,000 miles. Generally looks good but has failed in one area each side where water can spay past the inner wing directly onto the pipe. I suspect this rapid chilling has caused the finish to break up.
