Not very pleasant today was it. The rain doesn't bother me until it runs down the inside of the visor as well as the out. Then I can't see and it fcensoreds me right off.

Couldn't be arsed this morning either - weekend of relatives and my daughters birthday party at the house took its toll. Pathetic really hehe

Well, I don't really have the option of taking public 'transport', so it was on with all the winter gubbins - lined Dainese gore-tex trousers, Sidi Black Rain boots, Bering lined jacket (just like a Rukka) and Oxford Bone-Dry waterproof 1-piece.

Whilst it was a nut-ache to put it all on, I got to work this morning both warm AND dry for the first time err... ever?!?

The handlebar muffs may be couriertastic looks wise, but you can't argue with the effect! Wore my summer gloves and had warm hands all the way (warm body core helped though).

Fitting heated grips just to be on the safe side once the temperature plummets again.

i went to witney last night & came back this morning. oh it was lovely around the M25 & up the M40. from about the M1 to almost Oxford it snowed the whole damn way. rode 90% of it with one hand. my left hand was needed to hold the visor slightly open so it misted up less & wipe the snow that ws settling & freezing on my visor off all the time. you know its bad when your following a car & loose sight of their rear lights at about 40ft.
strangley wasnt cold though, the lidls waterproof socks & balacalva, textiles & new hein gerrick boots worked a treat. just had wet hands where the water when down my sleeves & in to the gloves.

Snap I had exactly the same this morning with my visor geting water running down the inside. Also then misting from breath (even with fog city) and from the clouds of steam being generated off the engine/radiator, rest of my gear all still waterproof which is good and the main thing.

What lid are you guys using?

I can't remember ever having water on the inside of the visor if it's shut with a fog city.

washing up liquid!!
Smeared all over the inside keeps it from misting up. However, open the lid as I did the other day and its like sitting in a washing machine!

Currently Shoei Interceptor, I think the CX1 Visor mechanism needs adjusting as I see gaps by the seal on fully closed at the top on either side. Also generally I need it run in slightly open in cold/wet weather otherwise it doesn't get enough airflow even with a fog city. I'm thinking of adding some thin stick on draft excluder stuff to the top edge of the visor to try and fix this. Think what I idealy need is a seal that acts like a mini sponge and stops the excessive water running down the inside.

Actually I should probably buy myself a new helmet if I can actually find one to fit, shoei seem to have changed all their fit designs over the past couple of years. Old XV was still the most comfortable best fitting helmet they ever did for me.

I agree about Shoei sizes. I loved my old one with seat-belt strap, but the new ones reverted back to double D-rings and didn't fit.

Ended up with a Arai which is bloody noisy.

Just bought a new clear visor for the Arai (as the old one got scratched in the cupboard all summer) with a Pinlock anti-fog and it's perfect. Doesn't mist up when closed and doesn't let water in.

carberg V2 here, the water in the top seems to be getting worse so i guess the last 25k have worn the seal a bit.

Just looked at mine, it's an Arai too. It looks like one side is flush against the seal and the other side has a slight gap between visor and seal. Means I'm going to have to take the side pod off, which I've found to be a once only operation before the tabs on the pod break. rage

I rode in today and found out the hard way that my Oxtar boots are not waterproof (Sidi Rains need new zip put on them), and my Frank Thomas trouser,s that replaced my previous Frank Thomas ones are not as waterproof or warm as the originals.

Also my Frank Thomas gloves that are awesome in the cold, and have been fine for the last 3 years in the rain, are now leaking and my hands were freezing! Never mind - gives me something to spend my money on at the NEC in a couple of weeks.

Worse thing though was after getting home safely, and looking forward to getting in the warm, I removed my bag from the top box in the dark, and forgot the Disklock was on top of the bag. It fell on my foot and think I have broken my big toe. I never knew I could swear as much as I did when it landed on my toe!

I have a car thanks, my bike gets me across London perfectly all weathers. Only stupid people drive into central London esp when it costs you an additional £8 a day let alone the additional time.
