Got a parking ticket this morning outside the office. It is a 30 minute limit but we park there all day because there is rarely anyone checking and so far I have spent zero on parking for the last 18 months instead of £3 per day at the car park.

I was a bit miffed because no-one else got ticketed.

So anyway, I went over to the car and took the ticket off, and was standing outside the office chatting to someone when the copper came running round the corner, to tell me to give him back the ticket and he'd rip it up. Turns out someone had tampered with the parking restrictions sign and he'd only noticed after ticketing me.

So, how did he know to come and find me? He'd been watching the car on CCTV, waiting for me to come out to it! Fair play to him for bothering - certainly restored my faith in sensible policing.

How many burglaries happened whilst he was watching the CCTV, however, is another matter...

Surely he'd just realised and was on his way to take the ticket off?

He'd be running coz he spotted you about to leave.

Hmmm, I thought they could only cancel the ticket through appeal, not on the spot?

Can anyone clarify this?

If it's issued in error I can't see why they can't cancel it.

What if they misread the sign and ticket a car parked legally? Surely they wouldn't have to go through the system to cancel it?

Nah, I saw the ticket from the office window and went out 20 minutes later to look at it...

He took my details down in case of any problems...
