XKR warning message on dashboard.

I was driving along a country lane and a message came up yesterday 'Driver Intervene'.
I looked down and the button beside the valet button was lit.
I pressed it and the red light went out.
Any ideas anyone, what that was all about?

Hi, I have just looked this up in the drivers manual which it suggests it is connected to the adaptive cruise control and is the "Forward Alert" which has detected, and is warning of an object close ahead, but if the ACC is switched off it will give the warning you received and a tone, but will not apply the brakes.
It can also be a signal of faliure of the ACC but that would also be followed with an amber light stating "cruise not available".
