Went to use the car Saturday and battery was nearly dead, just enough power to open doors but not turn over engine. So spent most of Sunday fitting new battery cleaning all the cable contacts and earthing straps plus upgrading front light bulbs while i was under the wheelarches and every thing been hunky dory until today, when Ive noticed that im getting very erratic battery charging voltage reading from pod dispay 11.5 to 12.8volts.
phone the dealer that fitting the new alternator back in May and he said it sound like the alternator is on its way out already after only 6 months and they will replace it under warrenty (parts only).
Question Is the a way of checking the output of the alternator with a volt meter, without having to remove the complete air box and alternator.
Dont want to have to do another 3 hour round trip plus have to pay for 2-3 hours Main dealer labour rate to change alternator, when it will be cheaper to buy one and do it myself.

Assume you replaced the magic fuse/fuse holder while you were getting backache?

No I did'nt banghead
Just done a search and it sounds like it could be the 100amp fuse under the airbox ? Im guessing I will not be able to get one from the local halfords so it looks like another 80 mile round trip to the nearest dealer to buy a 60pence fuse banghead

Yes you was right Targarama bowclap
The original fuses looked ok but there was 2 80amp fuses placed on top of each other in the holder not one 100 amp. Replaced the fuse and holder with one of Steve Heaths uprated 100amp items, very easy to do you have saved me ££££££££££££s.
