I have also driven the car twice now, 28MPG driving normally ( very poor) but the real test was in cold wet conditions........... 
the car handled terrible, bumping and crashing, ESP coming on all the time, could not put any power through it. Put me off as I wanted one after the warm dry day test.

Just had one on loan for yesterday and found the same, a completely different drive than the 630 cab I have just given back.bmwdrivernigel said:

Notice from the name that you have an RS4 which is probably one of the most grippiest cars about and as a result maybe changes you driving style in that you are used to applying the throttle early on and in big doses? The BMW sport models can be a bit brittle and skippy as a result they get the DSC excited. I found that with my 330 when the system is off progress is smoother when pushing and as long as you are sensible with your inputs. The lack of lsd results in rather harmless inside wheel spin rather than nice/dangerous slides. No experience of the 6 but in a mates 535d it was much the same. His 335bhp 335d is very 'skittish' and gets the inside wheel spinning way too easily. Sport spec again is a bit of culprit along with lack of lsd...

I was now "pushing hard" just driving normal, bit sad really.
I really like the thought of a 635D Sport and currently have an 07 LCI 535D M Sport (DMS'd)
If the 6 is anything like my 5, it'll be all over the road when you try and really push on in weather like today. Fun for a while, but bordering on dangerous around some roundabouts (having gone sideways earlier today

Far more sorted actually. It's a completely different car although it seems like a souped up 5 series it's far from it-M5 is a hoot even the wet-amazingly predictable and controllable and finds much more grip than a sport spec 5.To be fair though I have only been in it with the traction systems dialled back to about 3/4. I think it was in 'Dynamic' mode that allows powerslides but steps in if you are going to lose it. On a wet airfield day with the TC completely it was apparently much more of a handful with the weight making itself felt.
It's a shame that BMW can produce such well sorted M cars but with their Sport spec models they just stick on hard suspension and big wheels.

Nightmare in the wet...
I have the 19's on my 535d and therefore the non run flats and it handles fine in the wet. Flew across a roads last night at 2am in the teaming rain and no probs.
You boys don't know you were born with all this evil handling malarky. My Exige is on a048's and I run that in the winter and every corner is an adventure. Sometimes too much of one as I aquaplaned at Donington in the wet last year straight into a barrier. oops

Update; I was driving it in sport mode

I am going to buy one if my RS4 gets bought this monday, seen one in Deep Sea Blue with Cream leather Pro Sat Nav/ bluetooth tetematics/ USB port/ 6 CD/ dipping folding mirrors @ £47.5K ( october 2007 57 reg 2900 miles)
