What's the strongest G50?

I plan to install a 650HP LS7 & am concerned about gearbox reliability.

I emailed Rennsport Systems the otherday - they say the only G50 that would survive is the G50/50.
I spoke to the Ultima Factory this morning who recommend the G05/03.

I am confused - can anyone enlighten me?

May have your answer there. I believe the /52 was regarded as strongest as it has a larger diff ring gear.

You should also email [e-mail] for more information. He's been preparing transaxles for Ultima cars for many years now and Bobby Heart, the owner, has somewhere around 25 years of knowledge working with Porsche boxes.

Might be because the 50/52 is so hard to find now. The 50/50 is, I believe, regarded as the next best thing. Rather than go on a quest to find a 50/52, it's perhaps more practical to consider the 50/50. I found my 50/52 a couple of years ago. It took about five months to locate back then. You might snag one, though. It's all about timing. I would suggest that if anyone can find one, CMS can.

Hi. Living in the city, where Porsche and GETRAG are located, and having dealt a lot with the gearbox issue I finally may give the following advice:

The G 50/50 was the G50 Version for the 1989 911 Turbo. In respect to the other G50s -as well as the G50 /03 (as Steve already mentioned) - the G50/50s´ innards was strengthened as it has another final drive (not really the ratio, asaik it was still the common 9:31) which is known to be more debitable. The 911 Turbo was the top model these times, that might be another hint, that the G50/50 is the strongest one of the G50s-Series.

BUT: If you´re about to install a LS7...why don´t you take a 6-Speed-GETRAG of the 997 GT2 Model. That 911 created 462 later up to 490 hp...The GT2-Gearbox should be (beside the Carrera GT) the strongest Gearbox available that suits Ultimas´ Dimensions and the Ultimasports adapter plate...Bad thing about this gearbox is the price...

It has one possibly two more gears than you really need with so much torque on tap but on the other hand I plan to put in the tall top gear for economy cruise (tight ar$e).

We all keep hearing that the 50/52 is the strongest (and the ring gear is definitely bigger) - but has anyone actually blown up one of the "weaker" transaxles?
