Hi Looking into buying my first Fezza, a 348 Spider.

It has some rust on the door sills.

Does anyone know how much this might cost to remedy.

Thanks in advance.

Are you referring to the removable sills?

If so, you can get carbon Fibre ones for around $725.

I would check underneath the sill covers then, in case the body is rusted too.....

Also if you're going to check under the sill covers be aware it's likely you'll need to replace them afterwards because it's a very difficult job to get them off without damaging them.

By the way ... great choice of 1st Ferrari!

Thanks Guys all really helpful and much appreciated too.

IMO the 348 provides a tangible introduction to the world of Ferrari.

It provides a heck of a lot more than that smile

Add a Tubi and sports cats (or decat) for a sublime soundtrack!

Plus the 348 has a quintessentially Ferrari look, with the Testarossa strakes. Add to that the go kart like feel of the non-power assisted 348.

And in my (admittedly biased) opinion, the 348 Spider is the best looking of the lot.

Good choice thumbup

Whereabouts in the country are you? We can recommend a good independent for servicing (they do our 348) so pm me if you don't want to publically reveal your location.

If it hasn't got it already make sure you factor in a tubi and de-cat ... the sound is unbeatable!

If you upgrade the wheels to an F355's wheels, many people wouldn't know the difference unless the two were side by side.

Why would you want to do that? and does it matter if people do not know it is a 348 or a F355 you will always know it is a 348 yourself and I trust you bought it for YOUSELF.

To make it slightly more modern looking. Those wheels are really dated and not very attractive.

The 348 is dated. Why would you want to make it look "more modern"?
The GTC wheels would be the logical choice (IMHO) upgrade, not sure but I think they are 18s.

Hi All,

Thanks for your comments, I really appreciate them.

Yes it's the yellow 348 Spider on here and I must say that the guy who is selling it is an brilliant and the car sounds spot on.

This will be my first ferrari and I am trying to do a deal with him now.

The cams need doing and a small service, oh and the door sills need some attention as a small amount of rust bubbling up although this seems quite common from chewing the fat with others and doesn't appear to be a big drama to sort.

I am fairly new to PH, what does PM me mean.....?

Just got to sell my Boxster and hopefully.............. smile

Looks like a good price that one , when you say the cams need doing do you mean the cam belt or is there a problem with the cam shafts ?
Did you ever go see the white one at Verdi you were interested in , id be interested in hearing how you got on there and what happened , email me through my profile if you dont want to post it , thats what PM means .

Cheers Guy's.

What a beautiful car and certainly looks like you enjoy it too. Fantastic photpgraphs of your car, really great.

The white one I lost interest in because I really want a Spider. Additionally there were some other valid points people raised re the service history on imported cars.

The cambelts need doing (engine out).

This yellow one is just want and I would pick it tomorrow if I can sell this blooming Boxster.

I disagree wholeheartedly with trying to make a 348 look like a 355. The 348 is classic 80's Testarossa style, and very aggressive looking. The 355 is a more modern, very pretty car. Each is beautiful and unique.

No harm in swapping the wheels for a different look though smile
