Howdy all..

anyone know where I can source the super-long diff mounting bolts? I believe they are 7/16" UNF x 7.5" long. They seem to pretty tough to track down!frown

cheers

I have had exactly the same problem, cant get them anywhere, so have ordered a 1m length of stud bar and some nuts, then cut to length and weld the nut on one end.

Aren't you better off buying some M12's then having them turned down & thread cut on the ends? They are bolts not set screws the neck is a bearing surface for the bushes ~ cant see how studding could be used?

cheers both..

Yup Dave, I was thinking along the same lines if I cant source a direct replacement..

Just a word of caution to anyone fitting new bushes to check the ID on the stainless liners. Mine was really rough inside which I only found after the bolt seized within it frown .. hence having to take a hacksaw to the bolt..
The other two liners were the same but luckily spotted the problem in time so I've been able to clean up the ID..

Rings a bell that, I think there may have been some different sized shanks on early cars?

TVR Wedge upper wishbone bolts are about 7/16th diameter but a little over 10 inch long, the threaded section is only for about 1.5 inch so you would still have to cut a thread onto them.

And studding is not very strong compared to a bolt. I've snapped it several times.

When Dulfords replaced my Diff they had to cut the old bolts out. Give them/TVRCarparts a call they should be able to get you some.

All sorted now. I chopped/turned the M12 to suit and put an M10 thread on the end. Works a treat..

You should have seen the amount of material that came from the bush-sleeve ID after I ran a 7/16 reamer through! yikes

Not what you expect when you pay 50 quid for a set of 3 bushes..
