Discovered why my footwell is wet ... the black rubberised threshold behind the door card has fallen down. Can anyone explain where this is meant to be attached/sealed? Thanks

open the other door up and all will be revealed, and when you put it back on, screw it.

That's what I did. Simple really.

Hmmm ... maybe this might explain my wet footwell too?
Had to put the car on the drive this evening as I needed garage space for the race bike ... the passenger footwell is soaking wet!

I've removed all 3 lower door bungs and the seal is crimped in the right places (I think?!).
The only other thing I've noticed is that the door does not close quite as tight as the drivers side?
I can't find and obvious leak route.

What should the rubber do???! And what is the easiest way to remove the door card?

Thanks!

Remove 3 self-tappers on underside of door through bung holes. Card will then pull out. Its obvious where rubber threshold goes - making sure bottom edge is fitted inside, its handily slotted. I used mastic and a couple of self tappers to secure

Had a play yesterday!

There was a rubber sheet the full size of the door aperture.

The top and upper two thirds of the sides were secured to the "outer" edge of the door, whilst the lower third and the bottom edge were tucked into the "inner" edge of the door and hung loose. The top and upper sides were not particularly well secured, so I used a strong double sided tape to rectify.

I assumed from earlier posts that there would be a slot for the lower edge to fit in to ... ... but there wasn't??

Have I misunderstood?

No its the rubber threshold that is slotted so that you can fold the bottom edge over the lip into the door, which is where you want the water draining

Ahhhhh ... all is well then! Thanks!

Might have a look at the drivers side tomorrow as a comparison?

Not sure what else to do if the footwell continues to be wet? The door could do with closing a little more on the seal? The striker on the door is held by a nut spot welded to an odd plate? This plate doesn't seem to do anything, other than prevent you putting a socket over the nut! I can only think that this bracket should fit over another nut just below it and the striker then is tightened by using a pronged tool that fits into 2 small holes in it?

Am I making sense or just talking bo??+(£z ???!

You could check the seals themselves. They should have a small 'thumb' flat in them front and back bottom corners to allow water to drain as it collects along the top edge. Many cars also have a platic pipe inside to give extra rigidity and something that seals more efficiently against the door. Welcome to the hunt
