I've had to tighten bolts in two areas.
First, the bolts the hold the fuel tank boards (on top the tanks) come loose. Check the lower fixing bolts, with the ground straps at the lower inboard side of the tank also.
Second, and harder to get to, are the body to chassis bolts on the seat back bulkhead/firewall.
When I tightened all of these, my thumps, bumps and snapping noises all stopped.
The cars body feels quite tight over sharp bumps now (except for the headlight buckets).
Hi,
As formerly mentioned, it is most probably the bulkhead bolts. These have a nasty habit of coming loose on older Esprits (mileage, not chronological age). You may get lucky and be able to tighten them up from the engine bay side, but often, you need to bet a wrench on the nut on the cabin side, This will a.) require an assistant (unless your arms are unusually simian in nature) to hold a wrench on the nut and b.)May require that you make a small cut in the carpeting to access the nut. If done carefully, a small incision is all that's needed to expose the nut and will not be noticeable. Hope this helps...Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE
