Might be in the position to buy soon as it looks like the Supra will be gone in a couple of weeks. Looking for a Cerbera (4.2 most likely) in decent condition that isn't gonna be due that imminent rebuild biggrin (Spent too much on the Supra!).
Would prefer a nice blue one with Spider alloys, not keen on reds, preferably a 98 car due to the crank issues I've heard about on the 97 models. Has to have air con too, would be a daily driver (well most days). Anyone seen any decent cars matching this criteria about or anyone looking to sell? Not wanting to spend more than £12k cash ideally smile Keep trawling through the Classifieds and seen one i like although it's a 97, very tempted by it though although it doesn't have Spiders either

Go for a good sorted, well documented car. It's not like buying a Supra, different altogether, once yoiu've had one you'll understand. But if you think the Spra was expensive to run, the Cerb will show you what expensive is smile

Cheers Jensen, yeah it's a well known car preferably from an enthusiast on here that i'm looking for. Not too bothered about 4.2 or 4.5, don't want a speed six though. Trying to judge each car individually, just wondering if anyone's toying with selling or has friends selling good examples.
Haha i expect the Cerb isn't cheap, hopefully work out cheaper than the Supra though as it's seen about £10k in mods this year with modifications... then i got bored!

So you thought £10k for non essential stuff for you Jap car was expensive? Now imagine having to spend half that at least in essential maintenance and non essential mods and then add fuel and oil and you may be getting close to the cost of a Cerbera.

You say £12k is your limit for purchase, how much have you set aside to run it afterwards? You need an emergency fund of at least £3k that will get used.

Get it straight in your head now that a Cerbera is not a Japanese car - by that I don't mean to sound harsh, but it will let you down, it will break and it needs a lot of tender loving care in order to get the best out of it. You cannot just thrash the hell out of it for 6000 miles and then get a service, if you think you can afford to run one, work out the approx costs then double it. I don't mean to sound snobby but they are a complete money pit - but the best car on the road by far wink

A Cerb as a day to day runner! I had one for three years as I did long trips including Europe and I ran up 70,000 miles on two engines, will cost you about £5k a year to run, not including issues which will occur!

They are massive fun but at the end of the day the ones you are looking at are 10 year old hand built supercars and therefore they will cost you, they are a massively quick fragile beast.

If you don't have the £5k to spend a year and an accessable float of c £7k to bail you out in the dark moments it will end in tears!cry

But if you keep on top of them they are fantastic, my one never left me stranded, it was me that blew the engine at Goodwood. The proof is that in my 16 races this year my racing Cerb ran faultlessly in all bar one where a plug lead came loose!!!

guys, the chap currently owns a 500+bhp supra, which although wouldnt be as costly to maintain as a cerb, and would be far more reliable still, im sure it isnt a cheap thing to run as a daily car. Its all good of you to make the guy aware that these things can be a money pit, but I think he can probably afford to run one if he has spent 10k on mods alone this year. As at the end of the day, that 10k was obviously disposable income, which is what you need to run a cerb as we all know!biggrin

If you can stretch your budget a bit more then its probably best to go for a 4.5, as they had better brakes as std, and are more tuneable. But a 12k cerb is likely to cost you more in the long term tbh.
Good luck in your search tho, there are lots of very frindly and helpfull/knowledgeable people on here to help you out too! It was the best car ive ever owned, and id love to be able to go back into ownership, but right now Im not sure I can afford to.
