Sad news re. IAM's Christopher Bullock

This received tonight from my group chairman......
It is my sad duty to let you know the Chief Executive, Christopher Bullock, was taken ill and rushed to hospital last night. Unfortunately Christopher did not recover and died this morning. As you can imagine we are all in a state of shock, as he had not been ill and he was only 60 years old.
Christopher took over as Chief Executive from Bob Peters in January 1995 and had been in charge of an expanding IAM since then. Christopher has been in the forefront of change within the IAM and a ceaseless advocate of road safety. He will be sorely missed
At the moment it is obviously too early to know what the funeral arrangements will be. As soon as details are known I will send a further email.
Our thoughts are with Linda and their two sons, Nicholas and George at this sad time.

Whether the IAM is an effective road safety organsiation (as opposed to a income generation device) is entirely a different matter.
I wonder how many people's lives could have been saved on our roads if the IAM had a modern, approach to the importatnt role that it *COULD* have.

This displays an astonishing lack of tact and respect. Is it not entirely possible that people who knew Christopher Bullock will be reading this page?Could the moderators perhaps remove a post which I think we all find offensive at a time like this? Thank you.

However, I think those of us who have a passion for road safety (as opposed to driving) will recognise that on various levels the IAM comes up short.
Fond though we are of siting on the fence, road safety is too important an issue to do that. 10 dead yesterday, 10 today, 10 tomorrow.

The IAM with their numbers, finance and clout could be playing such a positive role.
(And a polite request, if I may. Don't send me PM's on the HPC fora lecturing me. My comments are nothing to do with you or the HPC. Feel free to end them "Disappointed of Surrey" but leave the HPC out of it. Thank you.)

Dave. I quite agree, which is why I think Craig's comments are so out of place, and I think I am entirely entitled to say that. If he has comments about the IAM's strategy, all fine and well - but that should be posted elsewhere and preferably after a respectful passage of time. I'll drink to that...it would be marvellous if the critics of the current system would come up with some constructive ideas...But, instead of holding my breath, I think I will prepare for the Mock I am doing over the weekend and for the pre Test drive with my Associate next week.
Not easy being in the engine room...must be wonderful on the bridge???

I met Christopher Bullock on occasion at IAM events and he always came across as an extremely nice guy. Moreover, he gave considerable service to the IAM and road safety. My condolences to his family and friends.
I strongly agree with the sentiments about the IAM strategy taking place on another thread. Let us all show some sensitivity please.
