hey guys

its probably the best place to post this as i realise a few of you have imported race cars in the past, i was just having a nose around on the net, looking at dream cars and such like. i was wondering if anyone could tell me the process of importing a race car from the states, how much import duties and vat youd have to pay, shipping costs etc...ok i know every situation is different but i just need a rough idea on costs etc....say for instance on a car worth $15,000

cheers guys

Never hurts to support people who sponsor the sport in whichever way.

I've shipped a couple of muscle cars over in the last 3 years, i used kingstown shipping, the last one came on a roll on, roll off ferry but i've also had one in a container.
If it's a lot of money i would reccomend looking at it personally, also is it near a port that ships to England, or, do you need to get it transported across country, all things to think about.
I paid the price of car and the shipping, then 10% of the two together, then 17.5% vat on all 3 together, so it compounds the price.
Hope this helps.
Mike

The car in a container, was shipped from Houston, texas to Chatham docks was £800, that included all port fees etc and the other car came from Sanford, Florida to Southampton by RO RO was about£650.
Dont mention it, if you have any other questions just email me.

If its a lot of money I'd look at it and arrange to do the deal and transport there and then if its what you want. Amazing how many big block race motors shrink to small block crate motors just by crossing the atlantic wink
