All,

I have been promising for 6 months to get around to learning how to REALLY use my D50. I am off to a wedding tomorrow with D50, 17-55, 10-20 and 70-300 lenses.

Does any one have a list of top tips or a link to a couple of pages of "how to thread water and be arty without always haveing the feckin camera on Auto"

Thanks in advance!

Adrian

Leave the group shots and the generic stuff to the pro. Use the 70-300 on its biggest aperture and get plenty of candid shots of the guests. Arty-ness to some extent can be applied afterwards in Lightroom or equivalent - B&W, tone, vignette etc.

I did this recently. My thread is here.
I'll post some results and post-event thoughts into that thread...

big aperture, lots of light, shallow depth of field, people enjoying themselvs.

I heard a good podcast of a very famous wedding photographer in New York and he said don't take she loads of shots at 40mm-50mm. Because every person's average digitial camera is around that, so they all look the same. Take 10mm or 200mm shots biggrin
