Morning all

Just a quick question - I would like a filter for my camera I assumed I needed a UV filter i.e to make the sky that bit bluer etc.

I went to jessops to have a look but they have a UV filter and a skylight filter?

Could someone please explain what each one does and what one I actually need - or if I need both!

Thanks for your help

Appreciated

I ALWAYS keep my UV filter on, I couldn't care less if I scratch that, scrating the lense however, id be mortified.

Polarisation Filters are brilliant, especially for landscapes, if you have a nice clear day. Good to remove reflections off water and off car windows and that too.

May I also recommend a ND (Neutral Density) Filter. They come in different strengths (Higher the number the darker the filter), it allows you to use a longer shutter in day light, whilst maintaining a good exposure.

Pictures of moving water its good for.

Where can I get these? Ebay?

Do you have any examples of photos you have taken with each filter? Thanks

What's the thread size on the 6500? My much loved S5000 has just drawn it's last breath so I have some filters and bits which are now surplus to requirements.

S6500 takes 58mm.

Keep your 55mm stuff and get a S5600 to screw on the back of them - you'll love it if you liked the S5000. smile

Can't justify the cost of buying another one. I'll just have to use the SLR more and take the compact to the places I don't want to take the SLR to!

Fujifilm's refurb shop had them for £86 recently, which was a snip.

...against that, the auxiliary wide and especially tele lenses are making good money on eBay. scratchchin

Hoya 58mm Circular Polarisation Filter

Hoya 58mm UV Filter

Hoya 58mm Neutral Density Filter

Id go for Hoya everytime. I have purchased alot from them, and everything has been good quality. I have use cheaper alternatives, but the thread on the filters dont seem to be brilliant.
