Hey Guys,

Its that time of year, and after a drive this lunch time in the wedge (the sun shine through my window onto my computer screen at home was too much to carry on!!!) i feel its time to think about her full winter lay up...

The plans for winter include all the usual boring servicing stuff, chassis paint ETC but im going to go for a general spruce up too...

Interior - Mines looking tired to be honest, and needs sorting so carperts are number 1 priority! Leather on seats, 'leather' on dash/doors etc are excellent so it should be quite easy! Going to change all the rubber seals as well....

What carpet do i use-i want to get a 'as new' type product...
Any particular choice of glue to stick it down?
Do the seats come out easily?

Also, bodywork wise, she really needs a tart up as well...generally she's good, but defintatly the front needs painting from loads of stone chips, and the boot needs doing as it blistered from being under a car cover last year apart from the winter lay up season when she was in a garage (november-march)ranting

Anyone know any good sprayers in the area? Cash prefered and hopefully i can lend a hand with prep etc...hippy Dont think im being tight, but im running thin on funds!!!

Thanks all!! smile

Don't use wilton / wool type carpets in the footwells! You could use a good quality short pile carpet on the upper bits but in the footwells stick to good old synthetic stuff for the glorious moments when they fill up with water!

If you use general stuff from 'carpet right' etc unless you get the correct length of pile it just looks wrong (IMHO).

You could also cut everything to size and get somebody else to edge the stuff to give it a good finish. Whilst you are at it you could also change over the roof struts to Griff ones. The new carpet will cover up any holes or marks that you make putting the new ones on. Try and use the old stuff as a template unless it disintergrates of course.

On the subject of carpets and general trim parts, try these guys:-

They have a HUGE range of gear in their unit (although their website only shows a small bit). Its only across the road from my work as well so if you want me to have a look see for colours etc then give me a shout.

Thanks for that mike, looks like what im looking for...

How about for the foot carpets and rear shelf? I think it would look great if these were 'real' carpets and i did the rest...

Ill make another thread about painters...

Matt, I used a firm up north called Martrim. They advertise in Sprint and got me the original carpet that was used at the factory. £20 a metre, and I used 7 metres on the whole car minus the rear shelf.

Stick it in with Evostik 528, 10 litres!! Took a good 2 weeks, and was a hard job with the underlay too.

Looks good though.

Ed.
