Hi,

Just bought a TVR Cerbera, first TVR and I'm loving it.

Just a few small problems and looking for pointers....

1) Mileometer has just stopped working.... Do wires come loose easy?? Speedo is working but not the trip counter or mileometer.

2) Aircon button seams to do nothing. It worked, as i remember, when i test drove it. Is it cos of the cold temp outside??

3) Rear screen not working?? Fuse??

Thanks

Tom

the aircon prob is most likely a lack of refrigerant in the system, a re-gas should do the trick. If you get someone out they can check and test first - should be about 60quid.

Can't help with the rear screen one as mine is the same. May be worth putting a multi-meter against the connectors and see if it's getting power, if not then fuse will be 1st point of call. I must get round to doing this at some point....

1) Mine did this at exactly 50k and it was the actual mile counter that had got stuck. I was told by the indie that this was quite a common problem. Sorry cant remember what they did to sort it out.

3) Check the wire that connects to the heating element on the rear windscreen. Mine has come loose. Button on dash lights up but rear screen doesnt demist. Havent got round to fixing this but it looked like it was just soldered on.

My fix was to drive along tapping the surround of the glass (don't want to break it!), and rapidly hiting the reset trip button - it soon gets the idea.

'They all do that Sir'.... wink

The indie was offords. Think they had to take the dial out, then probably hit it with something blunt and heavy lol

My odometer in my old Chimaera used to stick like that at every x9999 miles. Seemed to free itself within 100 miles everytime.

mine did exactly the same on 59,999, did take about 150 miles then just noticed it was on 60,003 all of a sudden.

that blue LED on the air con is really difficult to see in the daylight (well! mine is) try it at nightime :-)

The mechanical odo/trip meter is a bit weak really. I sometimes find it'll go over 1k increments after a while, but it has never gone over a 10k jump by itself.

I took mine out of the dash, gently removed the bezel, then took the insides out and assisted it over. This could obviously be construed as clocking, but as I'm winding it forward and I'm hardly trying to hide the mileage of my car, it doesn't worry me.

A/C on ours does not kick in when the ambient temperature is low, the compressor kicks in for a few seconds then clutches out I assume its because the suction pressure at the compressor is low due to the temperature (or lack of gas), but its ice cold in the summer and the compressor cuts in and out as it should. Its a simple system unlike in a modern car so you have to forgive its shortcomings.

Had the same problem with the rear screen. Have the people you bought the car from cleaned inside? Our was immaculate when we picked it up but the connecting wire had been dislodged probably when the screen was cleaned. Always worth a look.

Mine also did this at 50K.

A couple of days before it was booked in, it re-started itself.nuts (in classic TVR style)

The majority of the mileometers stick. Mine did on 29999 and 39999. They generally start working again after a few miles. I tried alsorts. Tapping it. Banging it. Swearing at it. Reversing. Eventually it corrected itself.

Mine sticks at x9999 too. I am getting ready for the 50K tap in a month or so....
