Resporting gamers Xbox 360
Discussion
As some of you know I often am on line with a mate who has a penchant for killing me & other people on the same side (he thinks it's funny
) and some kids say they'll report him. Do Microsoft actually do anything with the complaints?
Also for £40 per year Xbox live why the
do they have crap servers that take ages to load & often mess up? Trading standards?
ETA: Mods can you change the title to Reporting, I messed up. Cheers.

Yes they do, once they get a certain number of complaints then they will look into it and might ban them for a certain amount of time, or forever in some cases. Obviously certain complaints will get a quicker response, racial attacks are likely to be higher on their list than team killers.
This site gives you a general flavour of how it works:

There was a recent article from some gaming website about this, they setup a 360 account and harrassed people constantly for a few weeks before earning a ban, even going as far as posing semi-naked on a webcam on that xbox live card game.

As far as servers go, a lot of games use one of the players 360 as the server and everyone else as a client (Halo3, Cod4) so the quality is down to whoever is selected as the server (apparently random, or reputation based in halo3). Halo3 and Cod4 still use their own servers to maintain the ranking ladders.

What gets me is paying the £40 only to be kept waiting for ages for a game to begin if I'm not with you guys. It's the old my time is worth £'s but I'm paying them to wait.
Depends on the game i guess, Halo3 takes a long time to sort a match. COD4 lets you join some games mid-match so there is none of that waiting for players to join the lobby bo
ocks, but as a counterpoint, it allows unbalancing as a load of decent players could join the other team.scorp said:
