help! ...so i followed the links and phoned the alarm guru (carl) who appears to be on honeymoon till mid december. (lucky thing :-)

alarm is making little short chirps, which get faster and faster, only happens at about 3am of a morning. Threads seem to point to a fault with the siren / meta alarm battery. alarm does switch off from the remote and everything else seems to operate quite normally.

can i just replace the meta alarm battery? I know the alarm battery is duff, as it only emits a faint squeel for 30 seconds when i have disconnected the main battery.

how do i replace the alarm battery? I realise there is a security issue here in the postings, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

the neighbours in our street are not tvr fans anymore :-)

Hi
HAd a similar problem with mine some months ago. The alarm would churp to itself all night if i let it. Turns out the siren was buggered. I simply snipped the wires leading to it. New alarm. Job done.

I'm not sure there is a meta alarm battery, typically alarms draw their power from the main battery. The siren does have a battery backup and Steve M is spot on, the most likely cause is a dying siren. I'd doubt the alarm itself is faulty, particularly since, as you mention, the alarm works fine from the remote. Your best bet might be to dispose of the siren in the short term if the problem gets worse/your neighbours moan.

Steve.

I think you'll find the siren has it's own internal battery.

As said, cut the cables to it, and get Mr. B to replace it, when he gets back.

Any life in the siren it self will soon ebb away, or you can remove it.
