Yes. Most valeters have biological cleaners and some have 'misting' machines. There are a few kinds and the cheaper ones are nothing more than old disco smoke machines that emit a scented smoke screen.
There are a few products out there (mainly in the trade) that can mask the smell but only a few that will really eradicate it. We use a product called Bio Brisk for bad cigarette smells.
If you attempt it yourself, the main areas are the roof lining and sunvisors.
We regularly did a CID car for the Police as 2 DC's smoked heavily (even though they werent meant to). We had to shampoo and bio clean the whole interior then left a bio cleaner 'bomb' going with the air con on recirculate as the smoke smell is sucked into the vents. This caused the smell to return when the Police valeters used to do it.
No. It can be sorted. You can do it if its not too bad quite easily or take it to a valeter and they should be able to sort it for you. Make sure they explain the remedy process to you. If they mention misting machines, make sure its one of the better ones as the converted smoke machines rarely fix the problem, merely mask it for a week or two.
If you need any more help just drop me a PM.

Kev,I was under the impression that all the machine did was distribute the product around the car. Provided it fogs the chemical properly and that then gets access to all the contaminated areas of the vehicle, isn't the only variable factor what chemical is being used?
A purpose-designed odour-destroying chemical, (rather than a pleasant scent intended to mask), properly fogged around the vehicle is going to chemically do its job, regardless of what sort of a machine distributed it there?
Or are you saying there's more to it than that?
Cheers,
Tol
Tol,
There is a marked difference in prices for the 'fogging' machines.
As mentioned, the cheaper ones are converted smoke machines and these tend to block up very easily and do not cope well with the job in hand.
The more expensive ones such as Autosmart sell (£280) are purpose built and have wider jets that can be replaced and cleaned accordingly.
The actual chemicals are very similar but again the cheaper ones work for a small period of time. It isnt just the equipment that is different. Although the chemicals can be used in all varieties mentioned.
I tend to mainly use the bio cleaner ones rather than the aromatic ones as, I dont know about you, but aroma is a personal thing and wouldnt want my freshly valeted car smelling of Pine or Cherry blossom...LOL
