Lambo nose lifts
Discussion
Guys,
Most envious of those of you with a fancy button on the console to lift the ride height of the car to get over speed humps.
Can someone explaiun how it works - is it just a nose lift? Does it affect handling?
How much do the systems weigh?
Like to know if anyone is aware of a way of getting these lifts retro fitted - or somewhere you could buy the parts?

On the Murcielago I found that it is definately better to keep the mechanism down while driving normally. It also looks kinda wierd when you see a Murcie drive by and the owner has forgotten its up - there is a silver one that lives down the road from me and I swear the owner permanently has it up (either its broken or he has forgotten!)
It's a hydraulic system that pumps up the front shocks below 30mph as Johnny said. I didn't have it on my coupe but do on my spyder and have found it very useful for some of the more bizarre speed hump designs some councils like to use. There are some aftermarket systems I believe but I've not heard of anyone retrofitting the factory system. Perhaps you should ask the question over on Lambopower.com
I'm interested in how compatible it would be on the Aero 8. Ground clearance is reasonable on the Aero - but I tend to tour off the beaten track occasionally - and something like this would save damage to the aluminium body.
Didn't realise it was just front shocks - biggest clearance I've got is that the sump is only 7cm off the ground, and lifing the nose up won't really alter that.
Thanks for the info

Hey tony
Its a very handy feature i must say but i'd say it would be big bucks to retrofit if even possible. Your right that the sump is the main problem on the aero! I'd say at the raised level though on the diablo at least there wouldn't be much in it. But the good news is i will find out this weekend when the two will be in the garage for the first time together so i will measure the difference for you and how much it raises it by. Otherwise stop off roading

The Diablo system works by pumping power steering fluid into the front dampers. It lifts only the front. You can raise/lower with the button on the dash, or it will automatically lower at somewhere between 20-30mph. It doesn't affect handling. I doubt the weight difference is much - the dampers are already adaptive, the PAS pump is already there... net difference over car without lift negligible. Strangely, I've found I rarely need to use it.Can someone explaiun how it works - is it just a nose lift? Does it affect handling?

The lowrider people often use airbags to lift cars (cheaper, easier, lighter than a full hydraulic set up). No idea if there's space under an Aero 8 to fit but might be worth a look into?

Pplus when you look under an Aero you realise that yo'd be hard pushed to fit an extra sheet of A4 under the bonnet. (Hate to get hit by one as a pedstrian - it would hurt!)
