Sorry about this but search is not working. Currently about to swap my no claims onto the Cerb and take it off a ltd miles policy (curr have my NCD on my old Landy, with Cerb on ltd miles as 2nd car). Looking at more mainstream insurers and have been surprised to get a quote from Tesco of £450 not garaged which is less than the 3000 miles ltd cover renewal I just received, landy insurance won't change much from not applying the NCD to it cos it can now go on specialist cover instead. Seems like a no brainer to me as a saving and no mileage restriction, just curious as to whether other people have used them and if they should be avoided for any reason.

I know there are some cracking deals out there with Hegarty and Mannings etc, but as soon as you mention no garage they seem to fly up to "normal" insurance levels anyway, will relook at them next year after we have moved maybe.

So Tesco thumbup or thumbdown?

Interesting to see what the outcome is TC - when I asked them for a quote earlier this year, iirc they wouldn't quote me on a Cerbera...... not on their list.... so often depends on the luck of who answers the phone! wink

This was online Nicky, not spoken to a Human Bean yet, hoping not to have to hehe

Cheers MW, tbh £600 was closer to what I was expecting, as assumed it would be a bit higher than my renewal given I wasn't limiting the miles.

Seriously thinking about giving it a punt at this price.

When I was looking for a cerb, Tesco online was the cheapest. (Used as daily drive)

For the intrim it was cheaper to upgrade existing insurance, so waited for renewal time to look again.

Stupidly, renewal came and went, so never found out what Tesco was like, but I am only paying around £400 so not too upset

Have you told Tescos of any changes from standard on your car? Once I did that, they went from cheapest to 'forget about it'. I've used Sunninghill since I got mine, they're pretty competitive, not always the cheapest, but they know TVRS.

I had three years with them TC & they was OK.

Car has always been on the drive.

A Plan eventually came in cheaper though (car still on drive)

Hmmn will try them then, have tried Haggerty and did try Mannings once before (albeit a few years ago) and they said no garage then no cover, will try them again though as maybe they have had a change of heart. Have got some points and a £31k claim to throw into the mix though hehe

yikes That must make a good story by the fire on a winters night!!

But seriously - if I wasn't able to garage the car, then I couldn't have limited mileage confused. Have the other car with them too, they were the most competitive. Good luck! smile

I'm with Tesco - £340 fully comp garaged in Devon (when it's not at Dulford Automotive in bits). Never had to make a claim and hope I never have to.

I'm with A Plan for about GBP 400. Was with Competition Insurance before at about GBP 650 including 4 track days, but with only 7K miles a year.

Hello TC wavey I have just insured my cerb with hagerty for £279 plus £50 for european breakdown cover. I think that the main reason they were cheap for me is that it is used as a second car. I had a £7K claim 2 weeks before renewal. redcard Oops...

Cheers OS, now had a chat with Haggerty and also now Mannings, north of £600 and £700 respectively and both said would probably half if it was garaged (I think Mannings said they can't apply the proper 2nd car discount or summit without it being garaged, so it becomes normal insurance for which they are not as competitive as a lot of the mainstream peeps)..Mannings also mentioned that my wife going on is holding it back as she is not yet 35 and that is another key point for further discounts. Might try this competition lot on Monday, failing that it looks like a year with Tesco and then back to the specialists next year - we should have a house with garage again then and also wife will be 35 (mind you that means time for a trade in there as well wink )

Not sure how you got such a good quote with Mannings Nicky, you must be out in the sticks or maybe you are just ancient hehe The £31k claim was an interesting time, nothing sinister or even my fault (well if you exclude leaving keys too close to the front door), just a straightforward theft of relatively expensive car from outside the house, part of the reason we have gone back to cheap snotters for the family cars, less stressful and the kids can trash em to boot.

Good to have an update TC. I'm not sure how I get such a good deal either, cos' as you are well aware, I am only 27, so it's not an age thing. I have maximum no claims, perhaps that's it? And I do live in the boonies too! These things often don't make sense I find.. rolleyes

Tesco is a ´white label´ direct line product so same as Privilege etc. Maybe worth trying Privilege for a quote as cheaper than DL or Tesco on my un-garaged Tuscan.
