Are there any show stoppers when it comes to fitting a 5L serpentine RV8 in a wedge? For instance will it mate up to an LT77 or are there likely to be problems with the spline size etc.

The only differences are at the front end, and the efi side of things... Problems will be things like positioning of pas, alternator and air con pumps...

as long as you have all the efi bits and engine bay loom the efi is not problem either its only about 5 wires and some earths that need connecting

spigot bearing in the flywheel may be different so worth checking out.....

Thanks for the replies, if I can get the engine at the right price then I might have a nice little project for the winter then.

Been there done that etc etc.

The engine drops straight in. If it was fitted to a T5 the spigot bush will need swapping over. However be prepared for a lot of fettling as pipe positions and diameters changed. If you want to use the 5L injection system get the wiring loom as the looms are different. Especially with the injectors which will be 12 V types and not 5V.

Alternator. PA and water pump are all in the wrong place so that needs a lot of looking at.

Not difficult, just time and cash consuming.

Yes - the 5.2 was a serp unit and I ended up virtually replumbing/replacing almost everything. You need all the Serp ancillaries. The coolant pipes are in the wrong place. What I thought would be an easy drop it in job took almost a week.

I changed to the small alternator about 2 engine revisions ago. It is an uprated special denso unit. They are around £500 ish. Demon Tweeks sell them in the UK. I also had to machine my own pulley as the standard one was for a Vee belt and I needed a poly Vee one for the serpentine installation. I didn't want to spend £150 on an off the shelf pulley....

Ouch, seems a bit expensive.

Well I don't have any ancillaries, but will doing a complete custom plumming job, and will have to get custom manafolds made.
Was thinking of putting a Escort cosworth rad in. as its seem to be the closest match, plus should fit in the 2.8 chassis. plus the ali ones are about £200 and rated at 500BHP.

I'm not going to need a high power alternator, as its only going to be used on the track. I think JE do a bracket that adjastable so you don't need a tensioner.

Plus not going to have PAS or Air-con.

would be interest to know where you got the custom pullies from.

Thanks
Leigh
