Nick has an extremely good reputation for quality, but you pay the price that goes with it smile

I'd do a serach on Club Scuderia.

Most dealers have some sort of write up on there.

Can't remember if Nick got a good or bad write up but I think it may have been the later. Happy to be proven wrong so check before taking my word for it.

I've not dealt with Nick Cartwright, but have only read good things about his business in Classic Car mag etc.. I'd def check, as I always had the impression he is one of the better ones. Just my opinion of course. paperbag

I think you meant to type "who is t at m hartley?", and even then it's not particularly funny!biggrin

As for Nick Cartwright, treat him like you would ANY car seller...check EVERYTHING he tells you.....and check the things he hasn't mentioned as well!

I purchased a 348 from him just over 2 years ago.

- Negotiated a deal to have some 355 wheels/tyres on the car and also to keep the 348 ones as well. When I later checked the 348 wheels, they had virtualy bald Pirelli's on the front and Nankang tyres on the rear.

- Took me a year to get a leter from him with a breakdown of the engine out serviec he did on teh car prior to selling.

- A friend and i took the engine out a few months ago, and the engine had not been taken out for a long long time. So I don't belive he did an engine out, but an engine in which is cheaper and in my opinion not as good. Plus, an alternator bracket was broken and jammed into position. If the engine ahd been taken out, he surely would have chnaged a part costing £27 right!!!

- Within the 3 year warranty period, one of my cats blew. he said it was'nt covered under his warranty!!!! However, he did pay for a minor electrical fix a few weeks earlier.

Would I buy from him again? No. The car he sold me is very good. It's just the minor points above that spoilt it for me. At the end of the day he is a car dealer after all.

If you get anything from him or anyone else, make sure you get a full PPI and make sure you stand there while they do it....and ask lots of questions.

Despite what almost ALL dealers advertise, if its the cam-belts, the engine doesn't actually have to come out at all like is said. But they'll all still charge for it!

I went to look at a 355 Nick had for sale and he seemed a really nice fair sort of guy.

I bought a 328GTS from Nick earlier this year and I have to say he was great to deal with. I would buy from him again if the occasion arose. Go speak to him and make your own mind up.

But ideally it should as you can check/replace all sorts of other things like water pumps and seals and wotnot while it's out. Not to mention getting your rocker covers repainted smile

He let me down very badly on my 550 sale and I would not recommend him to anyone. However, as with every dealer, some good stories, some bad. I don't think there is any dealer out there who has only ever received positive feedback.

i didnt find verdi that impressive

all their cars were overpriced imho and although the guy who took me out was friendly he wasn't willing to deal and seemed to have something better to do. (i ended up paying 11k less for a similar spec car with less miles on it) which to date has done me proud.

i'm more than happy to pass details on about where i bought my car but i don't want to step on any toes as i know Dion has a lot of respect on here (and i didnt know him when i was looking!)

other than that, the reports of their workshop suggest they're thorough, honest and good value but really reaaly slow. no doubt the first three will outweigh the last in most cases though, just as it should

I get the impression that a lot of Karl's stock is SOR, whereas Nick generally owns his. That might explain the reason why you were unable to negotiate a deal.
