Right...

Battery keeps dieing.

So tested the alternator and it is only reading about 10V at idle..

So going to get it changed... What is it thought??

What do I put on?? Not listed anywhere??

Someone must have a part number...

Thanks

Alternator is in the V under between fuel rails on a 4.2. Amazon 'helped' wink with changing with hers this summer.
I changed mine (4.5) also this year and got mine from www.tvrcarparts.com  for about £130. No need to exchange items either.

When I say helped, made the tea & coffee and supplied food. I am sure she will correct me later though..

It's a Land/Range Rover one I think. Tvr carparts price is pretty competitive though as far as I am aware, you might find cheaper ones on ebay or somesuch but check the make first as could be a cheap copy. Think you want/need a 100Amp one.

Where are you measuring the alternator output? Directly on the alternator output or at the battery terminal?

If you measuring it at the battery terminal, check the 'big' fuse first. Alternator is fused and it's located on the top of the bell housing. Well known fault, they tend to crack / work loose due to vibration. Flat blade type, 100A rating.

Didn't think that £130 was too bad considering one for my 15 yr old pug is £60
