I parked my car in Bingley yesterday evening and caught a train over to York for a brief gathering at an art gallery. When I got back at about 21:50 my battery was flat. I phoned BMW emergency services and a nice man came in just over 20 minutes and attached a power supply to the battery so I could start the engine. He then tested the alternator and advised me that it seemed a bit weak and should be checked out. Where is the best place to get it checked, and if I need a new one, how much for parts and labour? A job for Talkwrench perhaps?

Hi Mitch. I have the gear to test your alternator if you wish.
A quick and easy replacement job too. I'll check on the price of an exchange unit for you on Monday & let you know.
