How do you get the battery out???
Discussion
Ok, I must be missing something simple here.
I have just spent the last hour getting a sore back, several cuts, and red raw knuckles trying to remove the battery from my '96 4.2 Cerb. I haven't used it for about a week and a half and the alarm went off flattening the battery, so having no power in my garage I decided to take it out and charge it indoors, or replace it with a new one if necessary... But can I get the blasted thing out?? No I can't!!!
Can anyone help? Please tell me there is a secret release button somewhere that magically makes enough room for the blasted thing to come out.
Thanks!

Ahh, I thought it was something stpid I hadn't done... My logic went like this - looking at the airbox it seems to be sealed along the edge with silicon or something, so I thought that looks like it's not supposed to come off.. So do I just undo those 4 or 5 allen key bolts and pull it off? Will I need to re-seal it?
Good grief I feel stupid... Never let me near a spanner again!!

If I need to re-seal it, is it just silicon or is it some sort of wierd TVR special stuff that cost thousands of pounds???
the sealant is just normal bathroom sealant, nothing special. I have had my air boxes off mainy times and never replaced the sealant and have never noticed any problems, depends how well they seat on the inlet manifolds, in my case the old sealant creates a good enough seal.Gassing Station | Cerbera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
