I'm new to this site and have just purchased a 96 5.0 Chim. It is FANTASTIC and makes my last car (Porsche Boxster S) feel like my first car - Skoda Rapid.

After a week of spending all my spare time driving it tonight I went through all the paperwork I got with the car. Than handbook states that it has 'Sportrak' suspension.

Is this a factory upgrade, or standard and if it is upgraded what is the difference and is it any good?

I am sure this will be the first of many posts as I get to learn and want to improve the car. I'll certainly be interested to see how people get on with driving courses as I NEED to learn how hard I can drive the beast.

So, thanks in advance for your help and as a slight aside, are there any active TVR clubs around the Winchester area?

Hi there, welcome from another new boy... got my 95 4.0 last Saturday! I too have thought about the driving courses - have you joined the TVRCC, their magazine is cool 'Sprint'

take care in the wet!

Welcome Matt, can't help with the suspension, but you will find loads of activities going on aound here.
Basingstoke probably has the most people around, but there are a few TVR's in Southampton/Romsey/Fareham area, I'm on Hayling Island and the Dorset lot are pretty active too.
Take a look in the Events section at a thread call Pie on The Beach II Don (Basingstoke) andI are arranging a reapeat of last years run for a picnic at Hayling, would be great to see you.

Ahhh,

Just re-read the handbook and it actually states "Sportpack" suspension. Should have remembered my memory is so bad! Any ideas what this is?

Cheers,

Matt

Could be uprated shocks/springs/anti-roll bars or any combination. Maybe.

Well hopefully get a few more weeks behind us and there *SHOULD* be a Chimp appearing in Kings Worthy.

Again, can't offer help with the suspension question but as far as clubs go there are a fair few of us around in the Soton/Winchester/Fareham area.
The TVRCC Hants meet is this Thurs evening (all details on the hants website).
If you are free, a few of us are planning to meet in Bishops Waltham at 7pm and convey up to the Hen & Chicken on the A31. Come join us.

Cheers
Mark.
