My digital display has just stopped displaying... all I have is the backlight on but nothing on screen.

Whilst it has not stopped me taking the car out it has made driving the Tiv a lot less enjoyable as I cannot see when it has properly warmed up so I have to be extra extra cautious and in addtion, I am playing the fuel guessing game! (which is bad enough when the gauge is visible!)

I took a torch to underneath the steering wheel and to the wiring at the bottom right of the footwell to see if anything was obvioud, however to me it looked like a plate of spaghetti under there - random thin wires coming from everywhere (all neatly tied with cable ties but impossible to trace).

Although I purchased the car only 3 months ago, the digital display has played up a several times now but always comes back on... until this time sadly (and its been 7 days now!).

I notice from the old invoices etc provided to me by the previous owner that in only May this year he had the Dash ECU replaced at a combined parts & labour cost of £575 + VAT by a company in Crawley, W Sussex who are very well known in the TVR business.

Do you think they should be able to check this problem based upon the spend only 6 months ago? It should not fail again surely?

Do repair companies offer any guarantee on these parts installed? and is this transferrable to a new owner? I do not have any T & Cs of their trading.

I know its 300 miles away from me but I cannot live with no display. Or in the alternative, does anyone know anyone who is good at TVR electronics in or around Manchester / North West?

Any ideas or suggestions would, as always, be gratefully received.

Thanks

Baz

Personally I would take the existing Dash ECU out and verify all the connectors are properly home. If you have been having on/off problems is possible one has slipped off or a wire has broke (such as ground or +12v).

There was a forum post on how to remove/replace the existing dash LCD (T350 I believe) so you might want to find/follow that in getting into the electronics.

Baz, I have had momentous problems with the dash ECU in my Sag. The only people who have been able to sort it out are Automedon (http://www.automedon.co.uk/home.html). Ask for Dave Smart. It's been back and forward constantly for the last 12 months and, while it is not perfect (starts blinking on and off but only after about two hours driving) it basically works now.
