so I popped the bonnet and was greeted with a smelly fuelly engine bay.
Luckily it had only front-fired and popped the short hose off between the supercharger and the plenum, held on with a jubilee clip. But it just goes to show - if you carry nothing else, do carry a screwdriver in the boot.
