Guys, have just noticed that the recesses on either side inside the boot are actually soaking wet. I can't see where the water could be coming in, but suspect it may be dripping down from the hinge gearing. Does anybody have any experience or advice on how to cure this.scratchchin

Checked that, the boot seal is pretty solid and unmoveable all the way around, to add to this, have now checked the rest of the car and the drivers footwell is also sodden. The car is normally garaged, but over the weekend I stayed with a friend and we had quite a heavy downpour overnight, I believe it was this that has caused the soaking.cry

Footwell will be clutch master cylinder - as in water ingress around it, not it's leaking clutch fluid into your footwell yikes

A search on here will reveal most water ingress points. I would check the boot seal is actually making contact with the bootlid as well, otherwise you might be right with hinge points.

You could dust the area with some talcum powder which may reveal a water trail if it gets wet.

I have removed all carpets that will come out, I shall now dry the footwell out as much as possible. When it is dry enough I will try the talcum powder trick and put a hosepipe on the windscreen to see where the water is coming in. I don't believe it is coming from the door seal area, so suspect the front engine bulkhead is letting it in somewhere, such as has already been mentioned the clutch pedal area. hopefully this will pinpoint exactly where it is leaking.

Thanks for the help so far.

You could always try filling the cabin up with water and watch where the leaks come from...

It worked for me years ago. I used a hosepipe and sprayed a jet of water in all the likely places.

Hi crazymatelot - my Cerbera has been taking on water in the passenger footwell namely. Had lots of help from clever folk on here and found that checking the rubber seals where the different pipes come into the car, resulted in finding the leaks.

I removed most of the carpeting in the footwell and the leather panel too. I checked the seals, but it wasn't obvious, so with someone in the footwell, I poured water into the engine bay (carefully!) and waited until they shouted they were soaked! laugh Thus identifying the leaking seals!

Hope that might help? Good luck! smile

Do what they did on Top Gear ..... fill it with water and see where it comes out.

wink

Seriously, though, you could try putting paper / cardboard in the areas it's most likely coming in and see what gets wet.

6. Oil pipe union
7. Scuttle panel securing riv-nut
