Just thought I'd let you know what I got up to yesterday. Local PH lads arranged a drive up into Mid Wales. All sorts turned up (including 2 other ro's) from Evo 8's with around 650 bhp through TVR, Lotus, Beemers, Nissan 200 et al. It's the first time I've done a bit of spirited driving on the twisty bits but I was quite impressed how well she handled. A few scary moments on the wet leaves but on the dry bits it was very predictable and dug in nicely. It was only on exiting the bends that the 4X4 brigade seemed to have any real advantage getting the power down a tad earlier. Incidentally my car spec is
VXR 500 (with still slipping s/c belt but being replaced next week)
AP brakes - excellent no fading and always performing even coming down the Elan valley
Suspension pack - I'm not sure exactly what this is but was fitted from new by greens for £1695.00 hopefully I'll find out next week
Cat back - Window down all day roar, whine, pop, bang, (repeat)
Rip shifter
Anyway I'm a very happy chappy today that a big old car did so well and was so enjoyable to drive and very comfortable.
MPG from start to finish 14.1 (included some sensible sunday driving)and approx 180 miles.
PS I thought mine was quick off the mark but that evo thing, jeez cry

On the topic of handling....

What are the preferred options in terms of suspension ? Anyone any comments ? What are you using ?

I found the same with mine round the Ring earlier in the year and if you were as abusive with your clutch etc you could get very close to the 4x4 boys! I found I was outbraking and out accelerating evo's coming out of corners... but only in the dry! the wets a whole new game!! and I would rather watch then. AVO coil over set up is what you will have on yrs and mines very impresive and adjustable.

Don't forget you also have to factor in the MPG for the amount of oil burned wink

Oh yeah. Sorry about that. Hope it didn't leave to much of a film over the front or yours. Dipstick stayed in for the rest of the run. I'm getting Greens to check O ring next week.

There is always the next time. thumbup

P.S. Don't know if this link is your cup of tea (http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=454912 ) but likely to be a few Monaro's in attendance. Myself and broadslide seem to makeup the Monaro contingent at the moment.
