Ha-ha...you would think they would number sequentially. NOT! Who knows why? The new "standard" engine for the Corvette is the LS3.

They've produced the LS1, 2, 3, 6, 7, and 9 (that I know of). I guess the 4, 5, and 8 are yet to be had. Do you think there will be an LS10, or will they just change the letters?

From what I understand, LS is just a version code from GM. Not all of them make it to production.

LS1 - 5L Corvette C5, GTO (2004)
LS2 - 6L Corvette C6, GTO (2005+), CTS-V (2005+)
LS3 - 6.2L Corvette C7 (in development)
LS4 - 5.3L (FWD) Impala SS, Grand Prix GXP
LS5 - Not in production
LS6 - 5.7L Corvette C5 Z06, CTS-V (up to 2004)
LS7 - 7L Corvette C6 Z06
LS8 - Not in production
LS9 - (?)L Corvette "Blue Devil" (in development)

Didn't know about the LS4. I recently drove a Grand Prix GXP. It was pretty quick, but the front end moved all over the place under WOT due to the front-wheel drive.
