e38 + phone ?

my 2000 740 has a phoen cradle and a phone menu in the satnav lcd

i dont have a phone though but if i get one that fits can anyone tell me what functionality i will get ? Presumably the signal is boosted and it charges the phone to dial a number or answer a call do i have to actually pick up the handset ?

sorry for yet another question...just trying to get my head around everything

Take a picture of the carrier - that would help for starters

You don't have a lead hanging around in that area do you?

Have a look in the passenger side area of the boot for a box that works with the phone.

You don't need to pick up the phone to answer the call if you have button on the dash or steering wheel

i think its a nokia 3110 according to my VIN number
if i get one from ebay do i have to make sure it has BMW software loaded at all ?

I'm not sure but if I had to guess I would have said no.

I've been looking for a replacement motorola one for my car as the phone display has been affected by heat
