The one on the back "bumper" if you can call it that. Our intention was to get it blown in body colour when the car recieves some paint work, but I always thought it was plastic and found out today that it's soft rubber!
Obviously normal paint will be no good for it, but is there a way that is? I know the later cars are painted, but the moulding looks smaller in width and I'm guessing it's a firm plastic type?

Cheers

Later ones don't have any moulding at all IIRC

I think the later cars have plastic instead of rubber - could get one from a crashed car I suppose?

On the later cars it's part of the body moulding. Not a seperate part.

Might do, struggling to find a suitable car. If you look on the griff SE thread you will see that I'm a chancer blah, blah, blah who will never get one because I won't offer the money people think the cars worth etc etc.You would think I'd never had a TVR, let alone a half decent one wink Some of the prices for quite frankly dodgy cars are laughable. No not yours mackbiggrin

plastic primer worked, but the paint isn't flexible enough for teh squidging in my experience. Mine is painted - but I know if I tap anything the paint will crack..

An old boy convinced me to use celly lacquer to stop chipping on the wing mirrors, apparantly its softer and more flexible than 2k. That does seem to work - but the tint of the lacquer doesn't match.. Spare pair of painted mirrors coming on wink

Are the rubber ones removable parts then? If I could switch it with a plastic one we might be onto a winner there

They didn't make plastic ones. The body mould was altered to take the shape. On the new ones it's part of the body, not a removable part.

Smooth it?
I hated the sight of mine so got rid of it altogether. I don't think I'd risk painting it as it could flake off quite easily and look a right mess
Heres a pic of it getting painted

It does look good smoothed off there. Have to have a think on this one I reckon.
