Side pod to front tyre clearance

Hi Chaps,

I have set the side pods to the factory dimensions and I have very little clearance between the front tyres and the side pods. All the wheels are currently set at 0 deg camber and 0 deg toe in. Factory ride height bars installed. If I turn the front wheels to the nearest point, I have 1mm clearance on the LH front wheel and about 4mm on the RHS. Is this correct??? Does the situation improve when you dial in the camber? I haven't even got new tyres, so it is likely that they will foul when replaced.. The rears have around 15mm clearance, but still need to set the the toe in which will reduce it.

Also I have noticed that the LH pod 'upright' (back of the door) position is 20mm further back on the LHS... Have you found the factorys positions to be correct or do the need tweaking?? With the pods in this forward position though, the front clam does align....

Fitting the body is taking as long as the rest of the build!!!

If you have the ride height bars in then that is not right.

Can you run through what dimensions and clues you are using for the positioning of the pods. It's been a while now since I did mine but Paul_b and I did his a few weeks back and the dimensions he was given worked very nicely.

Yes I agree, this is not quite the same. The ride height bars are already fitted and the top of the wheel is nearly touching the wheelarch. You can just get your finger between the top of the wheel and the arch. The set up should be exactly the same as with weight on the wheels except I have 0 deg camber...

Distance from the very front of the pod to the bottom of the roll bar hoop (as in the factory instructions) is 123cm.. In this position though, the front clip looks about right... I have noticed that the top of the tyre is potruding around 10mm outside the bodywork at the moment. This will improve with camber, but it will just be inside or level. Is it possible that the front wheels have too much offset??? They are a set of Ultima Image rims, 9"x13", so should be right.. Came of a GTR I was told...

Any comments welcome. Will add in the camber tomorrow to see if it helps.

Just checked and they are correct. Also just checked the front wheel offset. I have 120mm from the rear rim to the mounting face... Is this correct? The wheels seem to stick out beyond the body work (it is the same both sides)...



But the wheel is well centred in the arch.....



Perhaps this is why the pod is so near?
