What camcorder?

A mate as asked me about video cameras but I don't really know much about them to be honest, seeing as piston heads is the source of all knowledge I thought I'd ask.
He's looking for one that records onto a hard drive and he's looking to spend no more than £300.
I've had a poke around on the net and found that sony are offering cash back on thier cameras at the moment and amazon are doing some good prices on

there is also a JVC camera at currys with £100 off at the moment it;s the JVC GZ-MG132EK
The question is are they any good or are there any otheres that anyone would recomend?
