I had about 30 hours invested in the game, got to the bit where they take the plane and fly round the coast, and then I turned the X box on one night, and my game had gone! It just offered me 'Start New Game', instead of 'Resume Current Game' (or whatever the exact wording is).

I tried restarting it, cleaning the disc, playing with the controls etc, but there was nothing there. 'Load last saved game' did nothing either. frown

I've restarted it, played a few hours again, but I was real slow and careful first time round, doing a bunch of exploring all over the set, hence the 30 hours or so, so now it is a bit tedious doing it all over again.

So, where did I go wrong to lose my game? Any suggestions?

ps. I'm away at work now, so can't get back to it for a few weeks, but I'll be real pissed off if it disappears again rage

Can't you select what level you want to play when you go into the campaign lobby? Shirely the last level that you had unlocked would be available to you?

I'll try that I next time I get home. I never knew what the campaign bit was all about, thought it was just another version/type of game.

I suppose I should have read the instructions a little better.

Don't feel bad. I thought exactly the same. I restarted the game 3 or 4 times before I realised I could get to where I was via the campaign menu. Got so bored of trudging through that bloody forest.

Can you not go into the single-player (campaign) lobby and manually select the now-unlocked level you last played on?

To make you feel better, i once spent about 12 hours playing Tomb Raider 2 on the PS1, got about 15 minutes from the ending and saved my game about 1 nanosecond before hitting the ground from a 500 foot fall instead of hitting "load". The game only kept 1 save.

I did the same with Quake years ago. Spent hours and hours playing, lined up for a 'save', hit the button, and just as I pressed it a lift landed on me. I'd been stood in a lift shaft, not realising it. hehe I tried dozens of times to reload the game and jump out of the way before the lift squished me, but it just wasn't going to happen. frown

I did something similar whilst working for EA.

It was for Battlefield 2 on 360. We were doing a 'gold digger' playthrough, which is basically a 'complete the game with everything 100%' playthrough.

At the time we were testing 24/7. I came in my shift to take over the Japanese gold digger playthrough. For the last 48 hours straight people had been doing it and I only had probably 4 or 5 hours left to do to finish it.

I set up a uk language version of the game next to me so I could use it to translate the japanese version so I knew what I was pressing.
After about half an hour of playing, I managed to hit a bug corrupting the game save. So I went to go load the last save.
Unfortunately for me, the Japanese version had the 'save' and 'load' options switched round from the uk version, So I managed to overright the save.
Cue me worrying if I'll still have my job after telling the manager hehe
They were a bit pissed, but still had a laugh. Guy who had to take over from me almost from scratch was not amused hehe

Were you signed in with the right profile??

I once over-wrote a friends final fantasy X save when I started a new game, he lost a 120 hour save, not impressed!!

That sounds like the best job ever. Is/was the pay good?

Yes it was the best job ever. But no, the pay was rubbish. £14k a year on a 3month (extendable) contract. Still, was a bloody good fun year considering I had just come out of college and was my first permenant job. Although apparently the pay has gone up now to 18k?

Play testing is not as fun as people think, by the time the product leaves the door, everyone involved in developing it usually despises it smile

Riknos appears to be an exception smile [and good for you]
