Hello all,

quick question re planning permission.

I am planning ( smile ) to take a lease on a office block that is currently B1 use and I want to use it for D1 use. In the past it has been granted 'temporary D1' use. Does anyone here know if the past use of a building has any sway over the outcome of a planning application? Or is that not taken into account re the application I intend to make?

Any advice appreciated. (BTW its in Brighton if that helps)

I am no expert, but when I was at a planning committee in Windsor about 3 months ago, the planning person there said:

We grant temporary use to see if the use is suitable for the building and the area.

A quick call to your planning office will answer the question though
