Tailgating bastards
Discussion
I was talking in depth about this last night. I love going out on the bike and am starting to really appreciate how much fun it can be, but there is one thing which is ruining it - numpty bastards who drive 1 metre from your arse!
Don't these people realise how dangerous this is, especially when you are on a bike? When I get one I spend all the time looking in the mirrors to see what they are doing and not concentrating on the road ahead.
I HATE them! What do you lot do when you get in these situations?

There was a biker killed on the A38 (dual carriageway) south of Burton on Trent within the last couple of weeks in this exact situation.
From what I read a tailgater caught the bike's back wheel knocking him off. He was then hit by other cars. Last I heard police had the tailgater in custody.

Failing that if its around town, when stopped at a junction or lights roll the bike back against their bumper and proceed to do a burn out ![]()
Best thing I've heard in ages! Gold star to you sir

I honestly dont think I've ever had this problem, if youu are getting it (and im not trying to take the Pi$$ here) you are going too slowly for the speed of traffic, let 'em overtake or ride faster
I get it all the time, even when in normal rush-hour traffic with nowhere to go. Believe me, when I can get away I do but it still happens almost everytime I go out
The only vehicle that has recently been aggressively tailgating (and flashing) me was a traffic plod - fcuking volvo drivers!
Seriously though, I don't recall ever having this problem.
on open roads there is rarely a car close behind me and I don't ride much in town/city but have found that most leave a sensible space - maybe 'cos the duke's exhausts blow right in yer face/air vents, or that the sheer noise of the thing 'scares' people but never noticed it on other bikes either.
As rsvnigel said I'd be tempted to do a burnout on'em see how they like a bonnet full of burning rubber bits and a face full of chokin' smoke!

Close throttle. Flick kill switch. Open throttle. Flick kill switch. Kaboom!!! If numpty hasn't died of heart failure, he'll certainly have got the message!
Can't do that on fuel-injected bikes

But get a big twin with a 60mm full race exhaust and you get a similar effect - continuosly

Or buy an FP1 and flame'em on the overun

Ahhh I did that to a very annoying max power muppet at a set of lights, me on bike with ear plugs in and still his music was defening me.
So as my exhaust is right by his window & just before the lighs go green I rev bike up to the limiter hit the kill switch blip the throttle a few times and flick on the kill switch= BOOM & a lovely 3 foot flame.

yes childish but it made me smile

ps can you do the kill swich flame thing on an injected bike? ive only ever had carb'd bikes & would hate to loose my flames

Nice one Iguana!

Unfortunately on fuel injected bikes when you kill the ignition you also kill the injection so no backfire or flames - unless someone invents a kit Mmmm now there's a thought...........
Better still just get the FP1, you know it makes sense

Kid bro has had multiple run ins with these fools that tailgate.
Some old biffa told him he was gonna "knock him off and drive over him" after broski told him to back the fluck off.
Didnt go down to well with bro tho, that old giffa's comment, so he followed him and eventually he came to a halt at which he kicked his mirror off and tried to drag the old fart out and duff him up....all in view of two coppers who seemed to be enjoying the spectacle.....oh well, nil desperandum...

Will you fcuk anything up by doing too many of these?
Cazzo, one of the guys near here is the distributor for theseThe noise and the rear facing rocket launcher put most off
Once blew a hole in the silencer box of a car by doing it - the throttle cable split and stuck in fully open position, as I was only a few miles from home I controlled speed by the ignition off/ignition on method causing massive backfires, ah well the exhaust was rusty anyway.
As for the Aprilia pic - nice zorst! My old Ducati 250 scrambler had something similar but not by design - all the baffles fell apart in the can, so I gutted it and left it totally empty, effectively all it did was divert the flames out the back.

Had a different one last week. In the inside lane, just about to filter into a left hand slip road and leaving a small gap from the car in front when a lady starts to cut in from the offside land alongside me.
I ended up stopping to let her in or she'd have knocked me off the bike. She was of course also on her mobile phone - maybe calling for an ambulance for me!
What can you do?

This happens to me almost everyday. These morons have no idea of the seriousness of their actions and there simply isn't time to educate all of them. Sometimes it's motivated by jealousy and sometimes just by imcompentancy. The end result is the same, these f
wits are a menace. My only advice is to look out for number one and give them as wide a berth as possible, whenever you can.
