Hello,

has anyone been to this Moto GP race before, where is good to stay for nightlife and security of the bikes?

Which way did you ride over??

Any info would be great, cause I'm trying to get 5 of us over there next year for the Moto GP race in july.

Cheers

I did it this year it is incredible, was very hot, 1/4 million mad saxons camped on a hill side , heavy metal music all night no sleep for 3 days, the Saxons just pee anywhere, oh and there are only 50 toilets for the civilized.

Loved it

I'm doing the Sachsenring this year but flying and hiring a car not riding over.

I got talking to few people whilst at Misano this year and all of em said the Sachsenring was a must visit MotoGP. The track is brilliant, the event is well organised and its cheap compared to a lot of other GPs.

You can already buy tickets from the Sachsenring website! Can you imagine the organisers of the British GP being that well prepared?

i would be definatly interested in doing Assen, Misano on a 600RR is too far on such an uncomfortable bike.

i honestly dont think theres much in it comfort wise the new RR really isnt great but it makes up for it with how it rides much like a 996 does smile .

Campsite at Sachsenring is a bombsight! Friends stayed there two years ago, had their bike nicked, tent set on fire, and had no sleep for three days.
Best place to stay is actually not in Germany, but just over the border in Czech Republic (less than an hour away). The Germans are well switched on for getting you in and out of the parking too; not like Donnington...
Camping and food is much cheaper (and safer) in CZ, beer is better and the locals are well friendly and really into their bikes.
Done Sachsen two years running now; last year stayed at Chomutov (excellent campsight by a lake), this year at Osek (a little bit further and a bit scruffy but very cheap), and there are loads of other small towns near the border.
This year we flew budget to Prague, hired a car and made a holiday of it with hillwalking (Bohemian Switzerland), war history (Terezin concentration camp and Colditz castle) and of course the bikes themselves.
Well worth getting your tickets direct from the Sachsenring website; you can check your view on the sight, pay face value and then print it yourself at home! First year we didn't know better and got ripped of by a booking agent who just converted the euro price to pounds then added a "handling fee" on top! Be quick though, as certain stands sell out really quick.

We went three years ago. Got cheap flights to Berlin hired a car then drove to Dresden where we stayed.
It was a bit of a drive but a lot of the autobahn was unrestricted so the rent a racer was flat out most of the way.
The grandstand was T13 at the bottom of 'waterfall' hill and we had a great view.
The traffic was terrible leaving the circuit if I remember rightly.
Oh, Jimmy Sommerville was the live band on the saturday night. Funny lot those germans.

Just booked again with Easyjet for next year. £59 each Newcastle to Prague then hire a car from the airport.
Looking at the map It's not a bad drive.

My only concern with Assen is the weather, where as Italy should be sunny.
