Brake Discs, help please

Guys
Been cleaning and rustproofing around the front wishbones and noticed the inner disc was pitted,
so I guess the disc needs replacing.
TVR car parts, seem to want £32.50, brakeparts.co.uk want £11ish.
Am I right in saying they are Sierra bits and why the difference in price.
Will probably do the calipers and pads while I am at it, but cant find calipers at the moment?

Sierra discs, pads and calipers - the 2.0. 2.3 diesel ones fit. Don't get the Cosworth ones unless you get matching calipers - they are thicker.
You're right, discs do vary in price - they probably vary in quality too, but I'm not sure that the £120 ones are worth 6 times as much as the £20 ones from the local motor factor.

Take the old ones into a good motor factor and get them matched, you can use bog standard discs no need for anything fancy. It has been a good few years since I had to buy any standard ones but from memory they were about £15 quid.
When you come to replace the pads make sure you use good quality fast road pads and NOT ordinary bog standard pads, regardless of what the bloke behind the counter tries to tell you.

Mark - to change the discs you don't need to disturb the hydraulics - you can remove the caliper, swing it out the way, replace the discs then re fit the caliper with or without new pads (recommended with).

Sierra 2wd brakes with vented 240mm discs are standard spec.
You can go to 260mm brakes replacing the calipers, discs and pads, which I'm going to do, I have all the bits already. Just bolts on I'm told.
You can go bigger than this (Cosworth spec, 270mm+) but you have to start drilling the hubs to make the calipers fit.
I don't think it is too difficult, but 260mm will do me.
Incidentally my discs also look great on the outside, but the inside faces are not pretty.

No - if you go for bigger discs you need different calipers & pads. Sticking with the same size discs is a straight swap.
260mm discs require larger sierra calipers which are fairly easy to acquire - they are xr4i / xr4x4 spec.
The discs must be Xr4i spec only though (2 wheel drive) - the xr4x4 discs are different as it is 4 wheel drive.
Discs are pretty cheap - you could always change the existing discs and upgrade the pads to fast road pads (not race pads - they don't work when they are cold) and if you're still not happy put a brake upgrade on your wish list.
If you are thinking of doing this yourself you must pump the pedal a few times before you go anywhere to push the pads back up to the discs - otherwise its one hell of a surprise when you brake for the first time & the pedal goes to to the floor and nothing happens!
I've got the 260mm brake parts in my garage, if you want to have a look even if its just to understand whats involved give me a shout & pop round.
