Good Evening,

I read some test from the Chimaer 5.0 and the Girff 5.0. In the tests always the Griff had a better
acceleration. Does anybody know the reason of this?

Best Regards
Manfred

is it? the cars should weigh the same and produce the same power - aerodynamics to 60mph cant be that different surely??

You need to factor in weight of golf clubs v's chest wigs and medallions :-)

Seriously no idea assuming the same engine/box/diff the drag factor aint going to make much difference getting to 60....

The TVR sales brochures of the late 90s referred to more power from the Griffith 500 than the Chimaera 500 in standard showroom trim - a Griffith 500 engine was an extra cost option for the Chimaera 500.

I assume this is the 500HC ("340" bhp) Griff vs the 500 "320" bhp Chimaera? but there are plenty of 500HC Chimaeras out there.

I still dont think there should be any difference. Maybe the cars tested had different spec engines!!

All 500's are HC as far as I know.

I stand to be corrected but I think that all the 500's are HC, but the posted output of 340 bhp was dropped to 320 bhp to help with low speed smoothness...

You can't believe the jargon about 320/340 hp engines, so why should other figures be true?

It's easy - the older people go for Griffiths as they find the bi-focal windscreen a real benefit. They are kind of regarded as posh mobility karts nowadays.
