SPEEDO NOT WORKING

I have just collected my "new" Tamora and had a 500 mile return journey mostly in the wet. The speedo packed in after several hours of driving in heavy rain and now just gives the occasional kick as if about to function again. Has anyone had a similar experience in the wet and if so will it recover or does it require a part(s)?

Can happen in the wet, though the sensor usually requires replacement which seems quite common along with the oil pressure sensor.

Same thing happened to me, was at the wrong end of a 200 mile journey with loads of speed cameras to go through when it went (needless to say took it pretty easy).
Thought a few times that it was going to spring to life again, but in the end needed a new sensor fitting.
Was told that it's quite a common problem when i had it fitted.

Yeah looks like the speed sensor nedds replacing.

Easy fix just unplug it , (if is the same as the T350 it just below the passenger rear light under the boot carpet)remove and replace. I set my gap to 30 thou and the reading is spot on with my road angle.

I would wait a while before ordering, mine did this in heavy rain but after a few days it recovered and has worked fine ever since.

however, i tried waiting when my speedo stopped working,and eventually got it replaced.

If you have time, try removing, soaking in WD40 and leaving somewhere warm and dry for 24 hours before refitting.

Thanks Andy11, was just about to try Daftlad's suggestion but took it for another run in the dry first. Bingo! Just confirms it as a dry weather car I suppose.

I can't agree with you there, TVR's need to be driven, not stuck in the garage or under a car cover.

I don't disagree but its just for fun and its no fun in the wet for various reasons.

Speedo just stopped working on my T350, did not happen in the wet though, have booked it in with a TVR dealer to look at, by the sound of things I will have to replace the sensor, is this going to cost much !?
