Starting problem (E34 525)

Hi All,
Went out to the car this morning to come to work, unlocked it with the key fob (Cobra alarm), the dash lit up as normal (Handbrake on light etc), turned the key to start it and it wouldn't start.
It's trying to turn over but not catching (almost like the immobiliser hasn't switched off correctly)
Any suggestions of what I can try to get it started tonight (i've borrowed my OH's MX5 to get to work).
This has been the first sign of any issues and it worked fine on Friday night when I drove home from work.

Which engine M20 12 valve or M50 24 valve?
The latter is prone to flooding especially if moved a short distance the night before as it cokes up and that causes it to flood the next morning.
It sounds like the engine spins over as if there is no compression, to get over it remove the fuel pump fuse and spin the engine over until it starts firing then refit the fuse.
The Trans prog fault is an Auto gearbox fault but it can come up on starting with a flat battery, which may have happened when you kept trying

I moved it a short distance on sat morning which probably didn't help.
