hi all, when i pulled away from a toll road the other night the gears just wnet all sloppy & loose, it still selects the gears but its not easy... ive done a search and found 1 other instance but im a bit in the dark as mines an early 93 chim with the early gearbox, how do i get access to the linkage to check it, ive got all the trim and the rubber gaitors off but it looks like the stick just goes into the box?,have consulted the bible but cant find what i need,. is it something i can fix easily enough or garage job?, i dont have any ramps so any undercar work would be difficult for me on my own,. any help would be appreciated,..
Many thanks
Paul..

Perhaps the remote has fallen off? TBH if you aren't set up to investigate this yourself, it would be sensible to get the professionals to sort it.

Sounds like the remote gear-change has lost a bolt or two.

You have to tackle this from underneath, and you may have to take the exhaust system off to get to it but its do-able with a trolley jack and stands

I had this on my old Griff400. If it feels like the "H" has disappeared then it is a plastic part in the top of the gearbox that needs replacing. It's not uncommon apparently and Richard at Dulford Automotive fixed mine very cheaply.

May be worth a call?

Exactly the same as in my '92 Griff by the sound of it. And if it is it will cost you about 50p but a lot of swearing.

Hang on and I'll get you a link to my thread.

Here you go mate. clicky

I've always had great service from www.tvrcarparts.com
Ask to speak to Neil Parry - he's forgotton more about TVR components than I'll ever know!
